For four weeks this past summer, I had the honor and pleasure to be a Writer in Residence at Mission Street Arts in Jemez Springs, New Mexico—a place I would highly recommend to any of my artistic friends looking to escape the daily distractions for a while

The local newspaper, After The Thunder, comes out every two weeks and publisher Billy Ehret asked me to contribute something to the issues set to hit the stands during September and the first half of October.

Below are the first three: An anticipatory note about my hopes for the residency; a discussion of my early days in residence, with a good road trip anecdote; and a paean to the many charms of Jemez Springs.
